Paradox Pippin
| 2002 - 2020 Paradox Pippin was a dark dun gelding by Aladdin's Denver out of TH Carmody. | |
| Paradox Pippin was honored in 2025 by receiving the ACPS Camlin Award, given to a mare or gelding (who is over 15 or deceased) with a noteable performance career. Pippin spent 10 years competing in the dressage ring, advancing up the ranks to third level, always trained and ridden by his owner, Linda Roache. He collected many high point ribbons etc in the CT region and often outshone his warmblood colleagues. Congratulations Linda - I am so lucky you ended up with that quirky boy! | |

Pippin was 2018 Connecticut Dressage & Combined Training Association (CDCTA) Champion and Connecticut Dressage Association (CDA) Reserve Champion at Third Level with his owner Linda Roache up. He had a big health setback this winter and we are hoping for his full recovery. . |

Pippin and Linda Roache continued in their pursuit of Third level in 2017. They had a good showing at Second Level finishing the season with CDA Reserve Champion and CSCTA Champion at Second Level AA. He continues to get stronger and better and they both hope to have a successful show season in the coming year.

Pippin's owner wrote
in 2016: This year, despite some rider errors, he did well enough to get Connecticut Dressage Association Schooling show champion and Recognized Show reserve champion, and CT Dressage and Combined Training Associate Recognized show champion. All at second level. Unfortunately we didn't break sixty enough to get a USDF award. We are now trying to school third level. He can do half pass well if I don't mess him up, flying changes are another matter. His lack of jump and my lack of experience are making them difficult. He has started making them with his trainer. When he does do them, they have been clean. He gets big praises and he is rather proud of himself. I'm hoping we have a mild winter and we can keep working on them. I continue to be amazed and thrilled with him. - Linda Roache . |

Pippin's owner reports on 2014: We have finished our year, with success and some unplanned weirdness. All in all, Pippin has been a super pony. At his last eventing derby the jumps were pretty low, and he was so happy to be out jumping, he scared his rider a bit with his enthusiasm.
I'm going to plan next year better, or at least will try. Can't plan the weather. When we did make it to a show, he did nicely, mid fifties in second level tests. While he's not a big mover, we can work on the movements he can do, and try to do them better. The canter to walk transition is getting better. He can go from walk, or stop, to canter, no problem. Just improving in a few spots and we might be able to crack sixty. My dream would be to school for third level next year. It's asking a lot of him, but he is game. I'm also thinking of versatility training, for something different.
In the summer of 2014 Pippin tried some hunter derbies and loved them. Linda reports that he is VERY cute.
Linda Roache reports "Paradox Pippin had a great 2013 show season, ending with the Northeastern regional adult amateur championships at the Mystic CT Fall Dressage show. He got a second and a third, and we were on the third place team. We also did our first musical freestyle to Irish music and scored a sixty and pinned fifth.
Pippin was consistent this year, getting solid sixty pluses at first level, both schooling and recognized shows. Next year we'll be showing at second level, ready or not. We have been schooling most of the movements. He's doing half passes and counter canters, changes thru the walk, and haunches in. Did one combined training class and won it, and was high point CT winner at the show. Anyway, you should be as proud of him as we are, he had a super year!"
Linda Roache's 2012 report from CT: "Paradox Pippin had a good year. He earned great dressage scores and training and first level, and won both a Beginner Novice two phase and an Elementary Level Three Phase Event. He has a respectable score at the Northeast Regional Adult Amateur Dressage competition. This winter he is working his way up to second level, and focussing on hacking. He continues to be a versatile and fun partner."
In the spring of 2011, Linda Roache wrote that Pippin has really grown up. He loves to hack for 5 or 6 miles, he is huggable, he scores in the high 60's at First Level dressage, and he is teaching her grandkids to ride. Pippin has really bodied out like his sire, but has his dam's unique color. |

Paradox Pippin has been sold to John and Linda Roache of Andover CT. They have two horses with lameness issues so they are hoping Pippin will be a reliable, sturdy and athletic dressage mount.
He is 14.3 hands currently, and probably will finish at 15 H. He has a lovely topline, nice length of rein, big stride, good overstep, brave manner, and easy dark dun color. |
